Mazinyi (pronounced mah-zee-ni), an embodiment of ingenuity and passion, emerged as the brainchild of the visionary Creative Director, Annette Mazinyi-Pappoe, in 2016. Annette’s relentless pursuit of excellence led her to complete a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Active Sportswear at the prestigious London College of Fashion. Armed with an arsenal of technical expertise and commercial acumen, honed during her early career working with renowned British designers Katie Eary and Lou Dalton, she embarked on an exhilarating journey of founding her own label.

Born in the town of Kitwe, Zambia nestled within the Copper Belt Province, Annette’s early years were blessed with cherished memories before she was brought to the UK at a tender age of 2. Her upbringing in Zambia left a profound impact on her, and even as she grew older, she could vividly recall the outfits she wore and the places she explored during her formative years.

Annette’s heritage from Zambia is a significant element that shaped her identity. Rooted in her culture and traditions, it provided a strong foundation for her growth. However, it is her unwavering faith in Christ that beautifully overlays this foundation, creating a unique blend of influences that make her who she is today.

Having delved into the realms of technicality and fashion, Annette understood the importance of striking the perfect balance between creativity and functionality. This realization became the guiding principle for Mazinyi’s inception.
